House Bill 1731

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF PASCAGOULA TO ESTABLISH, PROMOTE AND DEVELOP TOURISM AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY; TO GRANT TO THE CITY CERTAIN POWERS WITH REGARD TO TOURISM AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The governing authorities of the City of Pascagoula, in their discretion, may establish, promote and develop tourism and economic development within the municipality.

SECTION 2. In order to effectuate the purposes of this act, the governing authorities of the City of Pascagoula may:

(a) Acquire, own, lease, furnish, equip, staff and operate any facilities and equipment necessary and useful in the promotion of tourism and economic development;

(b) Receive funds from any source;

(c) Expend funds from the general fund and any other lawful source;

(d) Purchase, sell, lease and dispose of all real and personal property necessary and useful in exercising the authority granted in this act;

(e) Employ such personnel as is necessary and convenient to effectuate the purposes of this act; and

(f) Have and exercise all other powers necessary or convenient to effectuate the purposes of this act.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
